Do People Buy From Online Shops Only When They Have Discount Campaigns?

Today’s episode of Digital Brunch focuses on a claim I hear often from online shop owners and e-commerce specialists – “people buy from me only when I have discount campaigns”. If people were only buying when they see discounts or when they absolutely urgently need something, then how do you explain the queues all over the city for overpriced coffee, how do you explain people buying insanely expensive clothes or people investing in organic food that is 3 times more expensive than regular food? This complaint that “people only buy when they see discounts” always reminds me of a quote I absolutely adore that belongs to Seth Godin – “The reason it seems that price is all your customers care about is that you haven’t given them anything else to care about“. Think about it while you enjoy today’s digital brunch!
